"I don't need to have the plan in hand, I don't need to have the end in sight, All I need to do is follow you, wherever you lead and do what you ask me to.
Trusting you, Lord, with all my heart, following you all my days; whether I can or can't understand, I'll acknowledge you in all my ways.
Though I am pressed on every side I am not in despair. My faith in you will carry me through though I may not see where You're leading me. "
-The Plan, Steve Green
Today was my first opportunity to substitute teach at a local English school. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. The eagerness of the Japanese children to learn my native language is so inspiring and humbling! All of these children are coming to this English class after a full school day. I was tired but a couple of kids were seriously starting to glaze over by my later class... I asked if they would all stand up... Then I took them through the 'hokey pokey' moves without actually singing the hokey pokey. It was fun! They were laughing to each other in Japanese, probably saying "What is this crazy gaijin making us do now?!". After that, everyone perked up and we all had fun for the rest of the night!
It has been such a blessing to just show up at Yokota and have a job essentially waiting for me here... You can't take that literally but I do believe that God has us right where He wants us. It's such a beautiful thing.
So there you have it for now! Much love!

We're here! :-)
Hi everyone,
We made it to Japan safely, as I'm sure many of you are well aware of. It's been quite a whirlwind getting here and settling in. We are still waiting on ALL of our personal belongings. As soon as I begin to worry about this or that, God provides. How silly of me to always be thinking ahead and planning when I know very well that He is in control and He is taking care of and interceding for us always. It's such a relief to trust in Him.
The military allows us to borrow furniture for up to 90 days while we're waiting for our things to arrive. That includes sheets and kitchen supplies. It's safe to say that we've easily gone without a microwave for over a week, which is quite a triumph in my opinion... :-) (We gave ours away because the voltage/wattage is different in Japan and we have one from the military that is on our counter in it's box, all taped up, so if we need one, it's there...)
The Aviator is so happy to be in 'operational' Air Force and finished (for now) with AETC (Air Education & Training Command). Everyday is another opportunity for him to get closer to completing the in-processing list which brings him a day closer to doing his real job... :-)
We are absolutely loving the culture here. The Aviator has been here before when he was younger but I get the feeling that it's still as exciting for him being here now, for the second time. He's much better at ordering in the language than I am. I get so nervous! It's very humbling to go in to a japanese grocery store and not have a clue to what you're looking at... :-) I was telling my friend, Chelsea, that it would be fun to bring an interpreter in with us someday just to get a general idea of what's being offered in the meat department.
The base here is huge! We are so excited about all of the wonderful things they offer here. We're looking forward to going to Kyoto and climbing Fujisan. I can't even list all of the things we are doing because there are so many! :-)
Happy note: Congratulations to my wonderful sister and her husband on the birth of their first child, Kellan! Selfishly, I'd hoped he would've been born while we were staying in Reno, but of course, babies know best! :-)
I'll post pictures soon. Waiting for our back up hard drive to get here... :-)
